MLK Day by Unknown User 1

My holiday was MLK (Martin Luther King Day). In 2000, MLK Day finally became a holiday in all 50 states. Most people don’t celebrate it but a very low population celebrates it. MLK Day honors Martin Luther King for the speech he made. People fought to make it a holiday. Martin’s birthday is on January 15. The holiday originated in Atlanta, Georgia. The first time it was celebrated was in 1986. It was celebrated because he was the chief spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the civil rights movement. Most Americans celebrate it by not having school, no work most of the time.
